Our societies are a perfect way to kickstart that goal, and you don’t even need any experience to join! You can learn new skills in areas you are interested in, increase your confidence and make new friends. 👭

Almost Famous Theatre Company 🎭
Starting with Almost Famous Theatre Company – welcoming individuals with an array of abilities. If you’ve always fancied acting, this could be for you...
Almost Famous is dedicated to welcoming new talent and showing professional standard performances, with many roles: performers, lighting and sound engineers, costume and set designers and stage and production managers.
You don’t need to audition to join the society either – auditions will be held individually for each show.
This year, the society has put together a number of shows, including the musical ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and the play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ which is showcasing this month.
The Shock Network 📻🎙📺
Shock Radio is our very own radio station, broadcasting each semester to over 20,000 students across the city. Whether you've been involved in radio before, or you're just starting out, there is on-air and off-air opportunities, including; producing, podcasting and technical operations, as well as a variety of roles within the sports, news, visuals and music teams.
Shock is also one of the biggest societies and is part of the UK’s Student Radio Association, with many links to the industry and have been visited by rising stars in music as well as well known radio presenters.
There is also the opportunity to attend many student radio events such as the SRA Awards and Conference, where members also have the chance to win awards – holding their very own Shock Awards at the end of each year too.
Salford Gaming 🎮
Salford Gaming is an award-winning, inclusive and gold accredited society that aims to provide a safe and secure location to bring together individuals from many backgrounds with a shared passion. So, whether you are an experienced gamer, or new to the field, there is sure to be a game for you.
They pride themselves on having a casually competitive environment for people to unwind in the week, with a variety of video and board games, as well as dungeons and dragons.
The society also hosts a range of external socials including: arcade visits, laser-tag, bowling, ice-skating with potential for new ideas to be considered. This year they are aiming to host a charity event once a semester to help give back to the community.
The Nigerian Student’s Society (NSS)

This year they have made significant strides, including advocating for extended school fee payment deadlines, enhancing member benefits, and organizing cultural and educational events such as a celebration for Nigerian Independence Day.
The society aims to adequately represent the interests of all its members and cater for their needs. They host exciting events all year round to promote friendship amongst members and provide a home away from home. 🏡
Salford Netball 🏐
Always had an interest in netball but haven’t yet taken the plunge? This is your sign!
Salford Netball cater to girls with all abilities, whether you are netball obsessed or are yet to give it a go.
The competition teams train and play weekly, with Champion League teams that train weekly and play bi-monthly.
The society is a close-knit community and welcomes all!
Level Up Law ⚖️
Finally, the Level Up Law Society is the must have guide into the legal world throughout your academic studies.
With a range of activities like mooting, debating, mock trials, court trips, along with educational talks with lecturers, past students, professionals and future employers in the legal field – you are sure to learn something new!
The society is a great place to support you with legal events and study sessions to help you reach your maximum potential.
