It's here! After consulting with loads of you for the past year, we're happy to be re-launching SU Ball for 2019!
Whether you're an avid member of a society, keen student rep, or just want a chance to let your hair down at the end of exams, this will be the place for you on 25th May. We're taking over Maxwell Hall to turn it into an amazing venue for one night where we can celebrate your success as Salford students including live acts and entertainment. We've got seventeen awards up for grabs at SU Ball, and the winners will be picked by students! Have a look below for awards dates and where you can nominate.

|Students' Union Personality of the Year||
This award is for the student who has demonstrated a true commitment to activities in the Union and embodies the Union's values, being a spokesperson and representative of students at the University.
|Student Volunteer of the Year||
This award goes to the student who has gone above and beyond in their volunteering efforts this year. This could be any student from those who ran a bake sale as a one-off fundraiser for charity, right through to course reps or society/sports club members.
|Society of the Year||This is for the Union affiliated society which has exceeded expectations and gone the extra mile for its members, the Union, and the University. This award is for the best society Salford has to offer.|
|Academic Society of the Year||This award goes to an academic/course-based society which has done the most for those on their aligned course(s), including bringing in guest speakers, arranging conferences and trips, and/or socials for cohorts.|
|Cultural Society of the Year||This award recognises the importance of cultural groups and the role they play at Salford. This can go to any international, cultural, or faith group affiliated ot the Students' Union.|
|Competitive Sports Club of the Year||This award is for any affiliated sports club which has competed in BUCS competition more than twice over the course of the academic year.|
|Recreational Sports Club of the Year||This award is for any affiliated sports clubs which has competed in BUCS less than twice over the course of the academic year.|
|Student Group Collaboration of the Year||This award is for a collaborative project undertaken between two or more Union affiliated societies or sports clubs.|
|Society Newcomer of the Year||This goes to a student who is new to a society this academic year and has really stood out as a member. This does not have to be a first year student.|
|Sports Newcomer of the Year||This goes to a student who is new to a sports club this academic year and has really stood out as a member. This does not have to be a first year student.|
|Student Group Project of the Year||This award is for any affiliated student group who have worked on a project over the course of the year which has benefitted their members. This could be a competition entry, campaign, or series of events.|
|Student-Led Event of the Year||This is for any student-led event, whether associated with the Union or not, which has stood out over the academic year. This could be a charity club night, fundraiser, sports event, conference, guest lecture etc...|
|Most Improved Student Group of the Year||This award is for any affiliated Union society or sports club which has shown demonstrable improvement over the past academic year. This isn't just in terms of membership, but also around development of the group as a whole. This could be extra initiatives undertaken to benefit their members, more events or campaigns etc...|
|Student Group Inclusivity Award||This award recognises any Union affiliated society or sports club which has gone out of its way to diversify its membership or be more inclusive. This could be through inclusive socials, outreach to certain audiences, or targeted events.|
|Student Committee Member of the Year||This award recognises a committee member of any Union affiliated society or sports club who has gone out of their way to do the most for their members, showing true dedication to their role and their group.|
|Course Representative of the Year||
This award recognises an individual who has gone above and beyond in their duties as a Course Rep (Student Rep). This could be an individual who has found innovative ways to consult with students on their programme, someone who is always easy to approach, or someone who has successfully secured change on student’s behalf.
This award recognises an individual who has shown excellent leadership as a School Rep. This could be an individual who has shown great support for Course Reps in their School, or someone who has worked in partnership with their Head of School to identify wider student concerns.
