Peel Park is a public park right here on Campus! It is historic, it's one of the first publically owned parks to be opened for the people of Salford in 1846. Nowadays, the Park Ranger Jess organises a variety of different volunteering opportunities from Wildlife monitoring, conservation task days, education sessions, events planning and stewarding and Friends of Peel Park committee member positions. Talk about parks and recreation!
The Friends of Peel Park Group helps the Peel Park Keeper to organise all activity on Peel Park. They are a community group that apply for funding, set up stalls, event planning, help to maintain the park and have meetings on the third Monday of the month, every other month.
You can attend as a general committee member, and get involved in the discussion about how the park should be run. If you enjoy attending, you'll have a chance to get elected to one of the following positions:
Chair Person - The leader that oversees all activity & direction
Secretary - In charge of emails, social media and meeting minutes
Treasurer - In charge of the accounts
General committee member - have input on ideas & have your say
If interested, click 'Apply Now' and the Park Keeper Jess will get in touch to talk you through your role and arrange your volunteer induction. During your induction Jess will talk you through the role and go through any relevant health and safety information you need to know about.’
