The Students' Union is looking for volunteers to be part of a new wellbeing project. We're setting up a listening service, run by student volunteers, where students can speak to someone quickly without needing an appointment, about any issues they are facing, or if they are experiencing some mental health problems and would like to talk to someone.
This role is not professional; it is intended to provide peer to peer support only. All volunteers will receive extensive training to enable them to fulfil the role, including wellbeing training and signposting training, so volunteers can refer students to support services on campus and externally which can help.

Volunteering will help to enhance your employability when you leave Salford, especially if you're looking at going into caring or mental health related professions, although volunteering is open to students on any course of study. Volunteers will also receive comprehensive training, including wellbeing training delivered by University of Salford counsellors, as well as information about all the support services available for students, in order to direct students to the most appropriate service when required.
