Course Representative of the Year Shortlist

Have a look below for who got nominated and a small extract from their nomination.

Arts & Media

Michael Bloomer (Popular Music & Recording)

Bloomer is responsible for his classmates getting an incredibly valuable practical experience in live music performance- the opportunities he has created for his peers could rival many other Course Reps.

Tomasz Sobocinski (MA Production Management for TV, Film and Digital Media)

Tomasz understands the importance of being a Course Representative, and has focused on improving the lives of future students studying Production Management, even if he himself won’t see the fruits of his labour. His selfless actions prove that he is truly dedicated to his work and takes an enormous care of his classmates. All the more impressive given that he is the Rep on a brand new programme!

Jack Twiss (Creative Music technology)

The reason Jack is impressive at his role, is because he is respected by the students he represents, and the University staff he works with. His great relationship with the Director and module leaders on his Course has meant student concerns are heard and acted upon.

Business & Law

Raisha Dudhwala (Business & Management)

Raisha is hard working and devoted to students and their opinions. She supports students to the best of her ability to make sure that any worries students have are acknowledged and resolved. She also takes into account the well-being and support that students may require.

Conor Maw (Business & Management)

Connor has been instrumental in bringing extra study and social spaces onto floor seven of the Maxwell Building. He is an approachable person and acts as an invaluable connection between his cohort and Programme Leader.

Adam Mustafa (Accounting & Finance)

Adam is known by his cohort as an incredibly understanding and kind person. No student query is too big or small, he always finds time to support his fellow students. If Adam doesn’t have the answer, you can be sure he will find the right member of staff in the School and track the answer down.

Health & Society

David Beevers (Psychology & Counselling)

Dave is a constant support to anyone in the university.  He is warm, approachable and always lends a listening or words of encouragement to anyone who needs it.  He is a staunch ambassador of the university and university life.

Ian Cartwright (Counselling & Psychotherapy: Professional Practice)

Ian is active in giving programme leaders feedback and is in constant contact with his School Representative in order to ensure that changes that are affecting his peers are being addressed. Ian is a passionate individual who is genuinely kind hearted and can always but a smile on your face whether that is through silly jokes or just being himself.

Sue Skidmore (PGR Rep for Health & Society)

Sue is a fantastic Rep for the PGR students across Health and Society. She has dedicated countless hours to this position, and sits on three University Committees. Sue recently independently took part in an online cross-UK PGR meeting to hear about how other Universities are supporting their research students through COVID-19. She is bringing these ideas back to Salford.

Science, Engineering, & Environment

Nickol Obioma (Pharmaceutical Science)

Hardworking, empathetic, committed. These are just a few words that explain Nickol. She has been a Course Rep for a few years on her Programme, as well as taking on additional voluntary roles in the Students' Union (Rakifi). Nickol has balanced these two voluntary roles alongside a demanding degree, and a part-time job, and this year kindly offered to take on further responsibilities.

Matthew Walker (Architecture)

Matthew has worked as a course rep for his whole time at University, being very involved with class discussions as well as student staff meetings. He has never been shy to give the opinion of the class forward to lectures or other.

Hollie Williams (Zoology)

Hollie is truly driven and wants to make everyone around her happy. Her cohort recognise that she strives to make the world a better place, something that has makes her a powerful Course Rep.
